A Christian Tradition
A Christian day school, St. James Lutheran School serves the academic,
spiritual, social, and physical needs of children from Martin, Faribault, and Watonwan
Counties in Minnesota and from communities in northern Iowa. Located in the City of Northrop, St. James Lutheran School is midway between Fairmont and Truman on Minnesota Highway 15.
As a Parochial School of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS), we welcome all as our Savior commanded, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not" (Mark 10:14). Our curricula is based on the directives of our Lord, "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you," (Matthew 28:20) and, as such, we make Jesus Christ and Eternal Salvation the focal point while providing all academic subjects that are required by the state of Minnesota.
In fact, the mission of St. James Lutheran Church and School is to learn, teach, live, and proclaim the truth of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ our Savior as revealed in God's Word.
On March 30, 2016, the St. James Lutheran Church, pictured below, was destroyed by fire--the result of a lightning strike. A ground-breaking service for the new church was held May 29. We are excited to see the progress and look forward to the future He has planned for us! Thank you to all whose prayer and support have allowed us to continue our mission. Please prayerfully consider sending your child or referring a friend to our quality Christ-centered school. We look forward to the upcoming school year, as every single one of Jesus' little lambs in attendance at and associated with St. James Lutheran School will comfortingly and continually be reminded that it is still ALL about Jesus!
